Amber Alert has been issued for a five-year-old girl in Florida Taylor Rose Williams

An Amber Alert has been issued for a five-year-old girl in Florida who disappeared early Wednesday morning.

Taylor Rose Williams was last seen inside her home in Brentwood, Jacksonville, in the 600 block of Ivy Street, when her mother Brianna Williams put her to bed at around midnight on Wednesday.

When Brianna awoke the next morning, about 7am, she noticed Taylor wasn't in her room and the back door to their home was unlocked.

The mother immediately dialed 911 and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement issued an Amber Alert for the young girl later the same morning.

'Taylor is the most important thing here right now,' T.K. Waters, chief of investigations for the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, told reporters Wednesday afternoon. 'We are very concerned.'

Police say Brianna Williams isn't a person of interest in their investigation. Investigators have made contact with Taylor's father who lives out of state.

More than 180 officers and other personnel, including concerned members of the public, are assisting with a search for Taylor, which entered its second day Thursday.

An additional 60 people are also searching around the Paradise Island Apartments near Southside Boulevard and Baymeadows Road, where Taylor had been living with her mother just last week before moving to Brentwood.

The search efforts have so far included going door-to-door of hundreds of neighboring homes, checking vehicles and even looking through dumpsters for the little girl.

Authorities are also checking any nearby bodies of water, as 'children are unfortunately drawn toward water,' Waters said.

'We're not going to rule anything out,' he said. 'We will continue to look for Taylor because we want home Taylor home safely.'

Efforts continued long into the night at both locations, with many new crews arriving Thursday morning to assist with the search.

'We approach these investigations in a manner that would help us to be able to determine whether it is foul play in the long run,' Waters told reporters. 'As it stands right now, because of her age and we have not found her, we are concerned but we are going to continue to look because she's missing and we think she may be somewhere alone. We want to make sure we try to find her.'

The Williams family are cooperating fully with the incident, police say.

Taylor was last seen wearing a purple shirt and pink pajama bottoms. Authorities describe her as being three-feet tall, weighing 50 pounds and having brown eyes and black hair.

Authorities are asking for the public's help in locating the little girl. Anyone who has seen Taylor or may have information on her whereabouts is urged to contact Jacksonville Sheriff's Office immediately at 904-630-0500.
